Monthly Meetings 2025

Our monthly meetings provide a regular forum for scientific exchange and collaboration. Each meeting features an invited speaker, accompanied by an introductory lecture given by one of our PIs to provide background on the speaker’s topic and facilitate discussion. In the evening, we all come together for a shared cooking and dinner session.

Brixen 2025

Our annual Winter School in Brixen brings together students and researchers for an intensive exchange on the Molecular Emergence of Life. The program features three invited international speakers, alongside student talks and poster sessions. But there is als time dedicated to outdoor winter activities such as skiing, sledging, or snow walks, creating space for discussion beyond the lecture room.

CRC 392 Iceland Field Trip

Iceland served as our field classroom, bringing together 12 PhD students and 6 PIs from CRC 392 to study volcanic and glacial terrains. From rift valleys to lava flows, we examined environments that provide important clues to how life may have emerged on the early Earth. This gallery presents selected highlights from the expedition.

CRC 392/CeNS Workshop Venice 2025

Together with CeNS, we hosted the Frontiers in Nanoscience workshop on the beautiful island of San Servolo in Venice. The meeting brought together an inspiring mix of scientists across disciplines, featuring amazing talks by leading speakers, an open-air poster session overlooking the lagoon, and a stimulating panel discussion on “Where life begins (again): The age of synthetic creation.”
